[edit]Erm...right. Seems to have been created accidentally as a sandbox exercise, and someone ran with it. Don't see which speedy-delete rule it would qualify under, but perhaps it should... Grutness|hello? 06:22, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I don't see a problem here. I can easily think of scenarios in which someone would search for this.Dave 06:21, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Man that was quick! I hadn't even finished entering it on the page! Is this on your watch list or something?
- I don't think there are any scenarios in which someone would search for this! What are the scenarios? I think this article should be deleted. --Thebrain7 03:58, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect to Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages. - BanyanTree 06:28, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I could easily see how a new user who just got the Template:Welcome message, or an anon who saw it on someone else's talk page, might type it to learn more. Note that Neutral point of view already redirects to Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, because it is obvious that anyone looking for NPOV info is trying to find a Wikipedia namespace article. Also, the welcome message does not include a link to Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages, so there is no obvious way for new users to learn more about the ~~~~ and its use. Perhaps it should... - BanyanTree 16:20, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Delete, self-reference. Please do not redirect across namespaces. (I'm surprised this works, actually; ~ is listed as a forbidden character in article names in Help:Page name.) —Korath (Talk) 07:08, Mar 11, 2005 (UTC)
- How unusual. Delete as self-referential, not to mention confusing. Lacrimosus 07:24, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- keep There is a difference between being self-referential and burying helpful information. It's not like this is ambiguous to a real world article. It isn't irrelevant. It does have meaning. It is helpful. What purpose does deleting it serve?
- Delete. Wrong namespace; help with Wikipedia goes in Wikipedia:. - Mustafaa 08:18, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect as per Banyan. Radiant! 08:45, Mar 11, 2005 (UTC)
- Obvious delete - confusing, self-referential, unneeded. The fact that this discussion couldn't be displayed on the main VFD page shows how this can screw up the wikicode parser as well. (Oh, and the irony of two people forgetting to sign their posts above is brilliant.) sjorford →•← 09:29, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. (I remembered to sign mine ;) ) Tygar 09:30, Mar 11, 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. Self-reference. Do not redirect across namespaces. jni 10:18, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. Wrong namespace. Mgm|(talk) 10:38, Mar 11, 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. No redirect. utcursch | talk 12:00, Mar 11, 2005 (UTC)
- Delete, wrong namespace. Besides, how would someone who doesn't know how to generate a signature know to look for ~~~~? --TenOfAllTrades | Talk 13:46, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect to Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages - Mailer Diablo 14:19, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect to Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages, ~~~~ entered into the search box does work. Thryduulf 17:06, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Delete; what TenOfAllTrades and sjorford said. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 18:14, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. -- Wrong namespace. No redirect required. TenOfAllTrades effectively said what I was going to... - Longhair | Talk 19:15, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Speedy Delete as a user test. Wyss 03:20, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- i made it, not a test
- Delete, I don't think redirecting across namespaces is such a good idea. I actually created [[wp:~~~]] and [[wp:~~~~]] (unlinkable but searchable) once because it was so hard to find Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages when i was looking for it. bbx 04:19, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect. -Sean Curtin 06:10, Mar 12, 2005 (UTC)
- Delete, wrong namesapce. DaveTheRed 00:46, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect - David Gerard 18:17, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect, as BanyanTree suggests, is what I would favor, but if it is harmfull to have the tilde character in the title then delete. Jonathunder 21:57, 2005 Mar 13 (UTC)
- Redirect. I know we have the WP shortcut for it as well, but doesn't hurt to have a spare redirect. -- AllyUnion (talk) 05:55, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect to Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages, assuming it's technically possible. --Calton | Talk 00:57, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect. I myself just did a search for ~~~~ as I was checking what was the number of tildes required for signing my name and datestamp. Redirecting would be good, as it would help a lot. CF 09:36, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Useless. Delete. For a more useful redirect, try Wikipedia:Signature (which already exists). - Mike Rosoft 14:23, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect. I just searched for this! It should definately be a redirect Timbagas 07:26, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect, as BanyanTree suggests. Jude|tlk 09:03, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
