Untitled[edit]Another summary could be found at Legion (demon). I moved it here, maybe it can be merged. <KF> 21:23, Apr 4, 2005 (UTC) A man known as Andre Linoge mysteriously shows up on Little Tall Island, an island off the coast of Maine before a major snowstorm in 1989. Linoge murders several citizens of this island with his supernatural powers. The town constable in the movie explains later in the movie that Linoge could actually be the demon Legion. The movie also makes reference to the quotes from the bible and also states the a possibility that may have happened for the true American mystery legend of Roanoke Island, NC in the 17th Century. Also, Little Talls Island's residents fate is imagined to end up being very similar to the herd of pigs from the story in the bible. Linoge is NOT DEFINITELY a demon[edit]hi there Storm of the century is one of my favourite movie so I did some research a few years ago about the character Legion. He is a demon from hell ( as describe in the bible ) but if I'm not mistaken, he should be a wizzard according to the movie. Hint in the movie: 1) he hissed in the back of Mike's truck 2) the eyes: once black, then glowing red 3) the silver walking cane with a wolf head (wolf, an animal often associate with wizzards) From the clues above, I reckon he's more of a wizzard then a demon.
I agree that he is some kind of demonic wizard, sorcerer,or specter; I just cannot believe him to be a demon. I think he is the same person who played flagg from that other Steven King movie. 11:56 15 February 2007 (UTC) Starcomet dded: 12/6/08 Upon further resuerch, Legion is a depiction in the Bible. Notably one of the most famous quotes, "My name is Legion, For we are many" Denotes that Linoge is Demonic in nature, representing all sin and evil in the world. He , in this movie, is the equivalent to the Devil. For anyone who does not think of him as a demon, you are sadly mistaken. Most people who have read the Bible, whether you are religious or not, can attest to this fact. They and I can also attest that the Evil one has powers to change, to do any sort of evil, this includes changing his eye colors. Despite that Mr. King never introduced any " Demons" in his other novels, does not mean that this makes Linoge disqualified from being a demon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.168.217.54 (talk) 21:22, 5 December 2008 (UTC) Remember this is a work of Stephen King, not some pseudobiblical dogma crap. As far as i know there are no demons in any of Kings work. The nameless evil in "it" is probably the closest thing to a demon that King created. In other works of King the name Legion has been exposed of being just another name that Randel Flagg used. Linoges usage of magic is very similar to RF, but I think its unclear if its the same character or another being. Linoge is never explicitly evil where Flagg is always set creating destructive cults or in other ways create chaos. I think that the most important evidence that Linoge isnt a demon is that King never in any other story introduce the concept of demons or demonology. While RF appears to be a demon he is not. He is nothing more then a evil human that gained knowledge and power, among that he have learned how live for a very long time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.226.177.51 (talk) 20:55, 4 October 2008 (UTC) added: 12/6/08 Upon further resuerch, Legion is a depiction in the Bible. Lenoge is not. Does Lenoge like fancy anagrams and favors using religion to scare people? Obviously. Just like a lot of other humans, even today. Anyone can take any name they fancy. The whole fact of him being mortal proves he's not a demon. Case in point. Added "Spoiler" Section[edit]I added a spoiler section to the page because I felt that the current plot synopsis read like a tv advertisement; it didn't really tell anything about the plot, or the ending. The Nature of Linoge[edit]What exactly is the mysterious Mr. Linoge? I believe it is most likely that he is some kind of sorceror, and that he was originally a human (although he may have been corrupted by now into some kind of demonic form). The fact that he is not immortal, and needs a human heir, certainly suggests the above. I added in that he could also be a demonic sorcerer. Starcomet I always thought he was some kind of warlock or something like that4.238.142.14 05:58, 12 June 2007 (UTC) He could be both a demon and a sorcerer like Randall Flagg or Sauron. Illustrious One (Receive my Majesty) 17:50 17th January 2008 (UTC) Starcomet repeatedly makes comments that Linoge isn't a demon, despite the fact that it's stated quite explicitly in the movie. (The whole point of Linoge's name is that it's an anagram of "legion," a reference to the Bible's stance on demons.) Starcomet's only defense of his argument is that he "just can't believe" Linoge is a demon, which is hardly encyclopedic -- or logical, for that matter. Furthermore, Starcomet's lack of knowledge about this movie is illustrated by the fact that he claims that the actor playing Linoge is the same actor who played Randall Flagg -- simply untrue, and fairly easy to disprove in any number of ways. Minaker (talk) 18:39, 16 March 2008 (UTC) I agree with Minaker and Illustrious One. The chap who plays Linoge looks absolutely nothing like Jamie Sheriden who played Flagg in The Stand. Linoge is definitely a demon of some description although I can see Starcomet's point of view. It is a little uncharacteristic for demons to have finite lifespans so maybe Linoge's a half-demon like the White Witch, perhaps the love-child of a demon and a human ala Merlin but of course that's just speculation on my part and thus does not belong in the article. --Jupiter Optimus Maximus (talk) 17:34, 22 March 2008 (UTC) As written above there is no demons in the steven king universe. So whatever Linoge is, he is not a demon. The biblical demon legion is actually Randell Flagg in the dark tower series, so that makes it likely that this "legion" is also Randell Flagg. The fact that he doesnt look like the actor in The Stand doesnt matter as both characters seam to be able to change looks by illusions. This is either Flagg or a character that is very similar to him in appearance and behaviour. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.226.177.51 (talk) 04:06, 22 October 2008 (UTC) To be honest, I still get the "demonic sorceror" impression from reading the screenplay. At the end of that, it describes him turning into what, as described, seems like an almost stereotypical wizard's costume - long robes and hat covered with astrological and astronomical signs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.169.7.241 (talk) 08:52, 31 October 2009 (UTC) Minaker I suggest looking more into the stephen king stories. There is much in common between Randall flagg and Linoge. They may not be the same actors but their characters are similar. Randall flagg has lived for centuries like linoge, and he has several names and faces. And we know that demons are immortal and has he said he is not immortal nor a god. This leads me to believe he must be Randal flagg or a charcter that follows the same make up.Starcomet (talk) 18:31, 27 September 2009 (UTC) Here is a link could lead to the defense of linoge being similar to flagg: http://books.google.com/books?id=d75KXLXsqpIC&pg=PA233&lpg=PA233&dq=Andre+Linoge+stephen+king&source=bl&ots=JTSXAcVWw_&sig=KICuTKkZVqr09Y1uvLyxfl_sDbI&hl=en&ei=7LG_SoaACNHU8QaC9rStAQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=7#v=onepage&q=Andre%20Linoge%20stephen%20king&f=false Starcomet (talk) 18:46, 27 September 2009 (UTC) |
Plot Synopsis edits
[edit]I made considerable changes to the last two paragraphs of the plot synopsis. As previously written, the plot was overly detailed, highly redundant, and very misleading. Mike's narration makes a major point of Little Tall being able to keep secrets, and its attempt to heal by living in denial; the plot synopsis as previously written, however, focuses on extremely minor plot details to draw a conclusion directly opposed to Mike's explicit statements. Croaton.[edit]I think it would be interesting to write here what is "Croaton", mentioned in the book. It was told, that Mike believes it is Andre's real name. In that article /http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roanoke_Colony/ I have found next thing. Second group of settlers In 1587, Raleigh dispatched another group of 117 colonists. They were led by John White, an artist and friend of Raleigh who had accompanied the previous expeditions to Roanoke. The new colonists were instructed to pick up the fifteen men left at Roanoke and settling further north, in the Chesapeake Bay area; however, no trace of them was found, other than the bones of a single man. The one local tribe still friendly towards the English, the Croatans on present-day Hatteras Island, reported that the men had been attacked, but that nine had survived and sailed up the coast in their boat--Oleg Str (talk) 15:09, 21 November 2009 (UTC) Was Linoge bluffing?[edit]It seems clear to me from the movie that Linoge was actually bluffing that he could make the whole town commit mass suicide and kill all of the children. There was one scene in the movie someone when Billy actually resisted Linoge's powers and didn't kill Katrina. Therefore it is possible. At the end of the movie Mike Anderson say's that they can all stick together and tell him "NO" and make him go away. If Billy could tell Linoge "no" on his own than the entire town sticking together should be able to as well. In addition, the last words that Andre Linoge say's is, "perhaps you've tricked yourselves." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zapsdaman87 (talk • contribs) 21:31, 12 February 2010 (UTC) Roanoke[edit]I'm reading this now and I've noticed that there MAY be a mix-up in the location that Roanoke mentioned. It's mentioned that the LOST Roanoke is in Virginia, but being from Virginia myself and having family around that specific Roanoke, I know that it isn't true. The ill-fated Roanoke colony was set up in where North Carolina is today, before the Virginia colony was ever formed. I'm also keeping in mind that this sort of thing has happened before in King's works. A good example is in the Dark Tower series where Eddie always said he was from Co-Op City in Brooklyn, though it's actually supposed to be in the Bronx. Malus X (talk) 23:35, 30 May 2010 (UTC) |
Cleaned up the Plot Summary

No mention of the ABC blizzard stunt
[edit]From what I have read elsewhere, prior to the release of Storm of the Centuery ABC did a promotional stunt across several of its series where they all were affected by a blizzard. The series are Dharma & Greg, The Drew Carey Show, Home Improvement, The Hughleys, Spin City, and Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place. I can not find which episodes from those series had the blizzards. LA (T) @ 00:03, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
