Why we need to use carrier frequency?

"Carrier frequency" should be seperate from "carrier wave". Let me know what you think. I also did a re-edit to bring the definition in line with that of NIST and CFR47. Fernblatt 03:21, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Mention center frequency here because there is a very nice Wikipedia article about it here!
Believe it or not, certain electromagnetic communication systems have a center frequency but NOT a carrier frequency. Consider AM-double sideband-suppressed carrier. The absence of a carrier frequency is also true for nearly all FM communication systems and nearly all digital radio & microwave communication systems. The latter operate at top efficiency when the carrier component is suppressed all the way, and we go to great lengths to make them so.

It is problematic for this article to be a disambiguation page because the following restrictions apply to disambiguation pages:

Here are some options for improving things.

1. Ignore the Chromosome context for the term (carrier frequency does not appear in Chromosome) and convert this to a convention article.
2. Ignore the Chromosome context for the term and merge this into Carrier signal and turn this into a redirect.
3. Create Carrier frequency (radio) and move some of the content on this disambiguation page to that new article and link stuff to it.

I added a bunch of radio-related incoming links and removed links related to the Genetic disorder. The article needs improvement but it is no longer a disambiguation and is no longer unclear what it is about. ~Kvng (talk) 15:15, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

We could also have content related to spectrum allocation. Also the use of carrier frequency in radio transmitters or receivers should be described. eg inserting a suppressed carrier for SSB reception. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:33, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

I think we definitely don't need both Carrier frequency and Carrier wave articles, they should be merged. There is only enough content for one article.
