[edit]I don't think Les Savy Fav really fits into the math rock genre... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.210.154.237 (talk) 07:15, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
anyone know what les savy fav means?
According to the guy who introduced them at a concert--it doesn't mean anything. They just made up some fancy sounding frenchish words. DirectorStratton 00:47, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)
- It doesn't mean anything. They simply use "les" to makes the title sound french. The band's name goes along with the crazy allusions to art history and the classics they often make use of.
- It is also a play on the phrase "les savoir faire" meaning I think "the capable" 195.92.40.49 15:06, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
The band members themselves have said that Les Savy Fav is a play on the the French art movement called Les Fauves. Here's a quote about Les Fauves: "The name, which translates as "wild beasts," was given the group by an art critic following their 1905 seminal show in Paris. The painter Gustave Moreau was the movement's inspirational teacher, a professor at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, who pushed his students to think outside of the lines of formality and to follow their visions."
IPA pronunciation
[edit]shouldn't Les Savy Fav's pronunciation be changed into IPA?EunuchOmerta 05:35, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, it should. - PhilipR 04:10, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Aren't these guys from Williamsburgh, Brooklyn? For Broolynites, the term NYC is way too vague.
- Wouldn't be surprised, Hipsterville USA
