In-universe material removed
[edit]Unfortunately, despite years of effort to encourage editors to approach the subject from an out-of-universe perspective, as of today this article still consisted almost entirely of material drawn entirely from the 40k sourcebooks. In the end, the only way to prevent that from happening seems to be to remove all of the in-universe material and start with a core which is purely from a real-world perspective. I've now done that. Editors who wish to read about the intricacies of the Orks are encouraged to visit any of the large number of lively external wikis which deal with 40k now: a simple web search for "40k wiki" returns plenty of excellent resources. IP edits
[edit]today were made several edits, probably some are vandalisms, I'm unable to discern if some of this anonymous user's edis are useful edits --Melaen (talk) 19:15, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Everything in the article appears to be correct. I can understand where the confusion comes from due to the Orkz naming schema and their strange form of providing comic-relief to what is supposed to be an otherwise bleak universe. My only problem is there is no mention of the Ork Boss who started a WAAAGH!!!, stole a Space Hulk, accidentally went back in time, killed himself so he could have a duplicate of his favorite weapon, and then had the WAAAGH!!! fall apart due to infighting caused by confusion over the boss's death. I understand this sound like complete garbage made up on the spot (it probably was when they were writing the codex) but everything found in this article is for-the-most-part contained within the Orkz Codex. 15:51, 3 November 2011 (CST) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.43.165.150 (talk)
J.R.R. Tolkien
[edit]WAY too many clicks are needed to know the true inception of the term ork/orc... The venerable J.R.R. Tolkien! Shame on such perpetrators of schisms who so boldly dismiss the greats! __AAA__ I am watching. I see you. Welcome to the pantopticon. Yyou will not hold it against me, will you! Ork Colors: Purple
[edit]"In a similar vein, Orks desiring stealth will paint themselves purple; the logic being that 'no one has ever seen a purple Ork'."
Is this actually stated in canon or in gameplay codices? If so, is there a source? 173.66.112.52 (talk) 04:41, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
The Beast
[edit]I see that there are two different entries one for the Beast and one for Ghazghkull . The game lore I'm familiar with considers them one in the same. The article doesn't list a citation Can anyone clarify this? DMcerulean (talk) 22:38, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
