Foreign-language dicdef, I don't quite see how to make an article out of this. While it is in fact an extremely common interjection in German, I don't think we need articles on dirty words in every language imaginable -- Ferkelparade π 08:38, 16 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Move to German wiktionary. - User:Utcursch, 16 Aug 2004
- Move to English wiktionary. Hey, we need entries on foreign words, too, don't we? --Golbez 21:32, 16 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Delete foreign language dicdef. -- Cyrius|✎ 01:45, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Maybe add some historical info like on Fuck. I'd like to mention two things. Firstly, I wrote the text, and I'm fine with it getting deleted if that's the way to go. Secondly, even though I am first in the history I am quite certain that before I edited it the page was blank. It did not have the usual message of A Wikipedia article that doesn't exist. I only wrote what I knew because there was something there to expand on, even though that something was in fact nothing. -- 66.32.123.183 03:37, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- The problem here is that the usage of "Fuck" in English is much more varied and the word itself has a much more interesting history than "Scheisse". The only thing that can be said about "Scheisse" is that it literally means "shit" in English and is commonly used as an interjection meaning "bad stuff". So my vote for deletion still stands since there's no real potential for an article here... -- Ferkelparade π 08:06, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Wikipedia is not a dictionary (English or German). I see no possibility of expansion to an encyclopedic article. Rossami 00:43, 18 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Comment: Fascinating. Is this really the meaning of Mr Jinks' favourite term? I had no idea it was so vulgar, and I'm sure my parents had no idea either when as a six-year-old fan of the Huckleberry Hound Show I used to use it all the time. Uncertain as to what to do with the article, there's an encyclopedic possibility here but I can't quite see what. No vote as yet. Andrewa 02:25, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Reply to comment: Probably not. The long e in pronunciation makes it far more likely that those are corruptions of "geez", itself a corruption of "Jesus" (see Euphemism#Religious euphemisms). The dominant vowel sound in this word is a long i. Rossami
