Talk:Radical (Chemistry II)

There is a suggestion to merge Radical (chemistry) with Free radical.

  • There is definately no need for both, so I think the question is "how", rather than "if"
  • I would prefer making the main page Radical, and have Free Radical point to it. Free radical is more of a biology/biochemical/buzzword term and doesnt differentiate from non-free radicals.
  • The second definition of radical in Radical (chemistry) is (IMHO) antiquated, and no longer used.

Free Radical Centre

[edit]

This is a blatant misuse of wikipedia. It is misleading to put this advertisment for a research centre in a section that is supposed to be informative for the public. The definition of free radical and background on it's discovery and uses are covered under radical(chemistry) which is the same as the implied meaning under the title 'free radical'. The implication that this one research centre deserves such a favoured position under this diverse topic is an insult to a generation of scientists who have worked on free radicals. The radical was not discovered within this centre nor has the defining work of the last 50 years been done there (the centre is only 2 years old). I suggest free radical be linked to that page and that this ridiculous attempt at free advertising be deleted. 128.250.91.230 09:28, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article on 'radical (chemistry)' is a brilliant example of why Wikipedia is such a wonderful resource. It is written for a lay audience by people who are passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. It covers a broad array of interesting topics relating to an important field of science. By contrast this article is not only scant on factual information, but also written in a spirit of cynical self-promotion. It is an embarrassment for everyone involved in the field and also to the people working in that centre.220.233.174.162 13:04, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does someone know about a good image to post here? And perhaps also in the FRTA page. Jotomicron | (talk) 00:46, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
