[edit]I worked as an oiler in the Operating Engineers while going through college, and worked on the bridge two different summers. I am dismayed at how little information is available on the official State Site on the bridge. I shall look more carefully, the information surely is there, and will be adding to this page from time to time. Rob
Why are there no illustrations on the Web or anywhere showing how the bridge opens, showing which parts lift up and which parts go under? There must be someone in the Department who can show us how ther thing works!! It’s not rocket science! —bill
This bridge represents the boundary for me between the mayhem of the city and the relative peace of the Olympic Peninsula. Often the smell of the sea is prominent here and is a reminder to breathe and relax. It's fun to cross this bridge in a storm. Even when the winds are blowing hard enough to blow waves completely over the roadway, you'll see seaguls cruising the wind wake. I have clocked many guls doing over 50 mph along the roadway even though they were canted into the wind and not flapping their wings at all. - Eric

[edit]How is the span opened? How often? Wikiak 01:24, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, there is too much discussion of politics and no mention of the retractable span. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.118.61.239 (talk) 20:34, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
It's for sale!

"Easily towed"? I'd add a bow to the east end of the east half, add some engines and create the worlds largest private barge.
The same company also had the HMS_Vengeance_(R71) for sale for a while.
It's Sold
[edit]...the state of Washington is currently replacing the old bridge as we speak. A company from B.C. bought the complete used bridge and they intend on towing it to Canada, and then disassemble the bridge into numerous lengths. They are going to remove all the roadway and pillars from the pontoons and sell the floating concrete pontoons in sections, that can be used for piers, breakwaters etc. ...

Tide Level Changes
[edit]How do the east and west approaches to the bridge adjust for the changes in tide levels?

Future Pontoons
