Text and/or other creative content from this version of Funimation was copied or moved into Funimation UK with this edit on 04:23, 22 April 2021 (UTC). The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists.
I have pitched my support for this many times in the past. If no one opposes, I see no reason why Draft:Crunchyroll, LLC shouldn't be moved into the mainspace (pending updates and expansion as needed). Draft:Funimation can also be used as a model for this article (which will be about the service pending the split). Link20XX (talk) 17:10, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The consensus dating all the way back to the very first requested move (see Requested move 1 March 2022 above) has been to split this page into an article about Crunchyroll, LLC (formerly Funimation Global Group) and an article about the soon-to-be-defunct streaming service Funimation. Unfortunately, every time this discussion comes up, it dies down in a couple weeks and so nothing has been done. Link20XX (talk) 21:41, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is ridiculous, we can do better than this. Why haven't we resolved this issue yet after MONTHS of consensus discussion? Just titled it with ", LLC" or merge it would the Crunchyroll streaming service page!GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 08:50, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So... what should happen to this page then? Merge the contents relating to the company into the draft? The what will happen to this page? What it become a redirect? ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 14:31, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This page will be modified to only cover the Funimation streaming service, where the content about the company will be split into Crunchyroll, LLC article. It will not be redirected. Link20XX (talk) 16:09, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well that makes sense. How come the draft hasn't been approved? Is it because not enough has been transferred to the draft page from this one in relation to the company? ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 16:19, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's because every time a discussion comes up to move it in the mainspace, the discussion gets side-tracked or just doesn't have enough participation to actually do anything, so things have just sat this way for months. I have continuously advocated for changing this, but nothing has been done so I kinda gave up. Link20XX (talk) 17:33, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding Draft:Crunchyroll, LLC, I noticed you expanded it quite a bit with content from this article, which is fine by me. However, I am not sure all of the content you added belongs in that article. While the lawsuits section makes sense, most of the programming section about the website, its dubbing, and its content may be better in the article on the service, which has a separate draft, Draft:Funimation. As for the distribution section, that should be culled as well to ensure it is about the company. Link20XX (talk) 17:46, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help with the drafts. While they could use some updating and other basic cleanup, I think they may be ready to be moved into mainspace. If everyone else is in agreement, I have no qualms. Link20XX (talk) 18:34, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The only major issue remaining is the Crunchyroll article, where any material relating to Crunchyroll, LLC should be moved to the draft so it focuses exclusively on the service. Link20XX (talk) 18:41, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The Crunchyroll Originals, Crunchyroll Expo, The Anime Awards, Operation, and Availability section all appear to be fine. The only thing is some of the more recent content in History might need to be moved. Link20XX (talk) 18:48, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think you removed a bit too much. The information on the 2008 investment and Chernin Group ownership is some important context for the service, so it warrants a mention. I also don't agree with removing the subsections since it helps with navigation. Finally, the content on the acquisition by Sony should be restored as the website was affected by it too, so it too is important context. The problem is that many of these sections should be worded in ways to make it more clear that this article is about the service. Link20XX (talk) 19:53, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I made some changes. What do you think? It does kinda mix Crunchyroll-Crunchyroll, Inc. (not Crunchyroll, LLC), but that can't really be helped since Crunchyroll, Inc. is probably not notable. Link20XX (talk) 15:18, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Since everyone seems in agreement, I would be tempted to move the draft to mainspace now and trim this page in line with the draft, which could be "merged" here for purposes of attribution.
Is everyone sure about the comma in Crunchyroll, LLC though? At least dewiki does not include the comma, referring to it as Crunchyroll LLC in line with most other businesses of this form. Felix QW (talk) 08:29, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. If someone would sort out the ref errors in Draft:Funimation, I think the most sensible course of action would be to replace the current content of this page with that of the draft, formally as a "merge" to retain attribution, and then move the other draft into mainspace as Crunchyroll LLC. I could make the requisite technical move request.
Then what is left is to sort out the incoming wikilinks and distribute them appropriately between the two pages. This is particularly important for the navboxes on this page, which also have to be divided appropriately. Felix QW (talk) 13:10, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It was quite a lengthy technical request summary, but I believe that @Felix QW was planning to merge that content into the existing Funimation somehow to preserve the longstanding attribution history. -2pou (talk) 16:17, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am working on it, but I will start with the navboxes because they have the bulk of incoming links. Then I will look at the other redirects. You are very welcome to help though, that would make it faster :) Felix QW (talk) 16:22, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think the three remaining navboxes at the bottom of Funimation are actually supposed to point to Funimation, but I would appreciate someone with more clue about the corporate mess to have a look at them. Felix QW (talk) 16:27, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Funimation is also linked from Template:CATV USA, which was not actually transcluded in the Funimation article in the first place. That is bad practice, so if we decide tht it should stay on that template we should transclude the template here. Otherwise, we should remove it from the template.
