What ho! Saw you'd made a comment on creationism and thought I'd just drop a note for the lark. May as well make sure I know where to turn for a brilliant wheeze, what? Toodlepip!  : ) Wooster 22:53, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hi Jeeves, Thanks for your message. I read your user page and agree very much with what you say about bureaucracy as well. I guess the problem is that bureaucratically-minded people will always end up in positions where they start to make rules, even in a quasi-anarchist project like Wikipedia. Maybe we should form a cabal of resisters ;) pir 20:31, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Your worry about gender-descriptive pronouns is silly.

Actually, I don't think you understand the issues, but you don't need to be taken seriously since you did not provide any insight and did not sign your post. Jeeves 00:28, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Privacy policy

[edit]

Good evening. You recently weighed in with an opinion on the discussion at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/User:Tim Starling/Password matches. On the basis of that discussion, I have proposed some changes to our privacy policy at Meta:Draft privacy policy. I would appreciate your thoughts if you have time. Rossami 22:21, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

reaction to extensive edits at DM

[edit]

Jeeves, I left extensive comments at Talk:DM in reaction to your recent edits and have not heard a response from you. It may be useful to discuss some of the issues raised.

I invite a response, if you can spare the time. ww 18:44, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Tip: if you want to upload an image, if you give it the same name, it overwrites the image that was there previously (thus if an image is incorrect, upload a new one with the same name with the correct image, no deletion needs take place) Dysprosia 01:24, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I removed your listing of Image:Nitrobenzol.png from Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. If you want to replace that image, just upload your new version with the same filename.

If there is an image that really should be deleted, list it at Wikipedia:Images for deletion instead. Guanaco 01:26, Jul 26, 2004 (UTC)

comment on change to Capital punishment

[edit]

Just spotted your change about an economic case for capital punishment. "* From an economic point of view, it is less expensive to execute a defendant than to house him or her as a prisoner for life." Perhaps you would consider changing the word defendant? A defendant being the accused before conviction. CustardJack 13:24, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hi Jeeves. I know that you've been involved in wikifying articles in the past, so I thought I'd draw your attention to this new project. We currently have a backlog of over 6500 articles, so any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated, even if it's only one or two articles! Alternatively, if you know anyone else who might like to help out, please tell them about it. Thanks :) -Ladybirdintheuk 09:29, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:49, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

All files in category Unclassified Chemical Structures listed for deletion

[edit]

One or more of the files that you uploaded or altered has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it/them not being deleted. Thank you.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
