welcome!
[edit]Hi there, Ebelular. First, let me just say welcome to Wikipedia. I see that no-one else has welcomed you, so let me just give you a few handy links in case you haven't already discovered themQ
- The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good easy-to-follow guide to editing Wikipedia.
- Welcome is another good place to start.
- Wikipedia:How does one edit a page gives editing help.
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style gives formatting info.
- Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines tell about the principles we operate on. It's important, but don't try to read it all now.
- Wikipedia:Help covers a broad range of useful topics.
- Wikipedia:Help desk is a good place to ask questions.
- Wikipedia:Show preview explains how to double-check your edits before saving.
You should also feel free to drop me a question on my talk page.
Secondly, if you haven't already discovered it, the Irish wikipedians' notice board is a handy discussion area, in case you hadn't found it already.
Thirdly, you said in the CTYI article that it is commonly reffered to as 'nerd camp' by its students. I attended CTYI numerous times and never once heard that term used. What is your source for that?
Happy editing, JOHN COLLISON [ Ludraman] 15:57, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for the welcome. I didn't know there was an Irish wikipedia notice board, I'll be sure to check it out. As for the CTYI/nerdcamp thing, I never went to CTYI, but I know a couple of people who went there. I, like them are in college now, so I don't know how recent that phrase is, or even if it's jsut a bit of a piss take. :) I should ask them again I suppose... I was just browsing around and 'was bold' :). ____Ebelular 20:49, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Wikimedia UK/Wikimania 2006
[edit]Hi, this is a circular to Wikipedians in Ireland to draw your attention to Wikimedia UK, where the establishment of a local Wikimedia chapter for the United Kingdom (and possibly for the Republic of Ireland) is being discussed. See the talk page, as well as the mailing list; a meetup will take place to discuss matters in London in September, for anyone who can get there. On another topic, plans are being drawn up for a UK bid for Wikimania 2006, which would be conveniently close to Ireland. On the other hand, Dublin's bid was one of the final three last year - might we bid again? --Kwekubo 03:52, 31 August 2005 (UTC)

Image:Mighty munch packet.jpg
[edit]An image you uploaded (Image:Mighty munch packet.jpg) was tagged as "PD-self". While I do not doubt that you took this picture, simply taking a picture of a copyrighted image does not give you jurisdication over the copyright statu of that image. You do not have the authority to release an image that is, in essence, a copy of a copyrighted image into the public domain. I have tagged the image with {{no license}}; feel free to relicense it under fair use if you wish. This is merely information for the future. —Cuiviénen 05:18, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Metroid Prime (creature)
[edit]Metroid Prime (creature), an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Metroid Prime (creature) satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Metroid Prime (creature) (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Metroid Prime (creature) during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:18, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Employment Act 1980, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Employment Act 1982. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 09:49, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Pantibar
[edit]A tag has been placed on Pantibar, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. RP459 (talk) 14:02, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of DublinBikes
[edit]You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
A tag has been placed on DublinBikes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TParis00ap (talk) 13:46, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Irish Taxi Council
[edit]A tag has been placed on Irish Taxi Council requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Fetal Heartbeat Bill
[edit]Just wanted to let you know that I reverted your edit to Fetal Heartbeat Bill adding "United States of America" to every section. Since the scope of the article, as you well pointed out, is a single country, it's much more straightforward to mention this once in the introduction. Adding the name of the country to all sections, as if this were a multi-country article, looks very clunky. If information about other countries' bills is introduced to the article at a later time, the scope and structure should of course be revisited.
If you disagree with any of the above, I'm happy to discuss it in order to reach a satisfactory state for the article. Mechordeus (talk) 21:58, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hi. I was hoping that by putting the country specific sections it would encourage editors to add details from other countries, and hence make the article more global. However that hasn't happened. Maybe I was too optimisitic? :) ___Ebelular (talk) 08:42, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
- That's a very good sentiment, but sadly I think it usually works out better to rely on information being there before adding too much 'scaffolding'. Thank you for the effort and subsequent edits, regardless! Looks like the article is getting a lot of attention recently, so hopefully it improves further :D Mechordeus (talk) 18:25, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Removal of "NPOV edits"

And my second edit was sourced as counter point, as is present in all other sections. Please utilize talk before hasty changes and please provide sources if you are suggesting changes (preferably non bias sources). 135.23.244.37 (talk) 04:45, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
I added 2 citations to the statement, in the opinion of Planned Parenthood, a major abortion provider. The article Mighty Munch has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Does not meet WP:GNG.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. st170e 00:12, 10 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:12, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Abortion in Ireland
[edit]Hi Ebelular! I stumbled upon Wikipedia:WikiProject Abortion in Ireland. It looks like you created the project page but a full-blown WP:WikiProject never materialized. Any objection to me moving the project back to your user space (User:Ebelular/WikiProject Abortion in Ireland)? It seems misleading to have it in project space in its current form. Hope all is well! Happy editing! Ajpolino (talk) 21:31, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
