[edit]Is this the same guy that attacked reporter John Stossel on TV? This article is linked from John Stossel, but here there is no mention of the attack, if indeed this is the same person.
- Definitely not the same person. David "Dr. D" Schultz of the WWF
Dave Schultz the freestyle wrestler JustDerek 00:14, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
Somehow this page got changed completely from the initial page. So, there is an erroneous link now between Goo Goo Dolls and this page.
Just one state title?
[edit]I'm pretty sure he had more then one state, title, I'll check tomorrow (I go to the same high school as he did).
- I checked pretty thoroughly when I did the list of the titles he won, etc., so I'm 99.9% sure that he did only win state once... oh, and p.s. I went to Paly, too. :-) JustDerek, Class of '89 20 Oct 2005, 21:14 (UTC)
Neutral point of view
[edit]I have a feeling the Wiki NPOV might be needed here - the first paragraphy of the article is exceedingly glowing with praise; even if accurate. BronzeWarrior 09:19, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
He did attack John Stossel
[edit]Here is a video clip of him attacking John Stossel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqfKJQzKtgk&mode=related&search=
This is Dave Schultz WWF wrestler NOT Dave Schultz amateure wrestler and Olympic wrestler.
"amateur wrestler"?
[edit]The article claims he was an Olympian. Wouldn't "Olympic wrestler" make a lot more sense than "amateur"? Also, what's with the "duPont" spelling? 74.137.108.185 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 12:05, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
In other media
[edit]I'm wondering if this citation doesn't represent some egregious self-promotion: "Tim Huddleston's true crime book, Wrestling with Madness (2013), explores the events related to the shooting. This is self-published.[7]"; wanting to delete it. Beadmatrix (talk) 13:02, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Beadmatrix
- I removed this as promotional. There were similar placements for self-published book by the same author in about a dozen articles. - SummerPhD (talk) 13:33, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
This article purports to be about a murdered champion athlete. So-same question about this: "directed by Academy Award-nominee Bennett Miller". What does that have to do with this champion and murder victim? I want to delete it. I will wait 48 hours before so doing in the absence of convincing rationale of why it should stay as-is.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.3.129.225 (talk • contribs) 06:31, December 19, 2014
- No need to wait. I've yanked it as peacockery. - SummerPhD (talk) 13:29, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
References
[edit]References #3 and #4 look strange to me. No text displayed at all.
Actually reference #3 does not even show up as a successful match on Google Books. --johayek (talk) 01:30, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Requested move 28 June 2021
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Moved to Dave Schultz (amateur wrestler) per nom. The original title redirected to David Schultz dab page. No such user (talk) 13:59, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
Dave Schultz (wrestler) → Dave Schultz (amateur wrestler) – Further disambiguation is needed due to the existence of David Schultz (professional wrestler). Both amateur and professional wrestlers are normally disambiguated using (wrestler); per WP:PDAB, we should only partially disambiguate in exceptional circumstances. 162 etc. (talk) 14:32, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- Is disambiguation really necessary, given that one is named Dave and the other David? Assuming these titles reflect their common names, of course. It seems to me that the current situation with hatnotes is fine. If the move were to happen, however, I think I'd prefer "freestyle wrestler" over "amateur wrestler", because it seems strange to refer to an Olympic and world champion as "amateur". Lennart97 (talk) 15:22, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- Schultz the professional wrestler is often known as David, but also Dave; see this promo photo or these [1][2] videos where Mean Gene introduces him as "Dave the Redneck Schultz". To your second point, amateur wrestling is a well-known term to describe freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. Dave Schultz (freestyle wrestler) would be a bit inaccurate, as he was also a champion Greco-Roman wrestler (2x U.S. National Open champion, 1x Pan American Games champion.) 162 etc. (talk) 15:45, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, both points are pretty convincing (and I had totally overlooked the Greco-Roman titles). Support as proposed. Lennart97 (talk) 17:54, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
