Outdated Information
[edit]The information on this page is currently outdated, it needs to be revised with information from the current website of the organization, which is muslimamericansociety.org. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashamari14 (talk • contribs) 01:15, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Copyright violation
[edit]This article seems to be a verbatim copy of http://www.masnet.org/aboutmas.asp and a likely copyright violation. Kbh3rd 02:22, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- The current version does not have copyvio material. (SEWilco 05:38, 5 March 2007 (UTC))
NPOV
[edit]It is also far from neutral. "Fatwa Services"!!!.......freestylefrappe 04:02, May 15, 2005 (UTC)
- History of this page shows that whenever NPOV research about the MAS is added, it is removed to create a POV advertisement for what is a controversial group, even within the Muslim community. Please pitch in to help create a balanced NPOV article on this group. --Apostate mo 00:58, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Heavily biased propaganda-article
[edit]Not NPOV by any stretch of the imagination. Needs to be tagged for non-NPOV. The group is very controversial because of recent attempts to institute Islamic Sharia for Minneapolis cab drivers, as well as ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. This makes a proper cleanup all the more urgent. TimothyHavelock 00:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- There was a lot of redundant material and links. Cleaned it but some items need confirmation. (SEWilco 05:40, 5 March 2007 (UTC))
- You can't classify this group as Category:Muslim Brotherhood unless you provide some references to back it up. It seems that category has been filled with organizations who are targeted by right-wing groups like FrontPageMag and Hasbara fronts without so much as a token attempt to provide supporting evidence. Note, this group has been targeting by the extreme right in the United States with accusations of terrorism that have resulted in bias attacks and death threats on its members and property. So there are real consequences of blithely categorizing them in the same group as Hamas, without neutral citations. T L Miles (talk) 14:02, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
The original "source" for the claim this org should be in the category "Muslim Brotherhood" was later removed from this article. It reads " It traces its 1992 origin to the Muslim Brotherhood's founding of the Muslim Students' Association, which created the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). The ISNA worked diligently with MAS founders and members." That last line should end "before MAS was founded". So the argument is members of the MB (and others) formed the MSA. Members of the MSA (and others) founded the ISNA. Members of the ISNA worked with future members of MAS at one time, before these later founded MAS. Got it? This is like classifying someone as a member of the KKK because one of their parents worked with someone hose grandfather was in the Klan. It's insane, and pretty clear evidence of the NPOV mess this article was turned into int he period 2007-2008. Ideally this topic needs to be torn down and begun again. Fair use rationale for Image:MAS Logo.gif
[edit]Image:MAS Logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:27, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Early HIstory and Other Edits
[edit]First, I deleted the quotations as they seemed random and served no purpose. Second, I added the early history of the MAS from an extensive article on the group done by the Chicago Tribune in 2004. The article needs much more work but at least we now have that.Sgmiller (talk) 09:02, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Over the last year and a half, my additions to this article were deleted with no discussion. I would reminder those editors that it is against WP policy to removed sourced material without discussion. The material I added was based on a Chicago Tribune article in cast that is not obvious. Please do not delete without coming to the discussion and explaining.Sgmiller —Preceding undated comment added 19:43, 6 May 2011 (UTC).
